Tree Park – Chennai’s Next big attraction!

Chennai, a metropolitan city which has an intangible connection that makes her unforgettable no matter what quality it has. A tree park is said to be established in Kolapakkam near Vandalur which is expected to become a Go-to spot in the city starved of green spaces. The tree park is said to be the newest attraction of the city as it will have various trees from various parts of the state. Spread over 20 acres, the Forest Genetic Resources Tree Park will have plants found in the Western and Eastern Ghats where their presence keeps the temperature under control. While five saplings of 300 species from the two regions have already been planted, 150 trees of naaval (jamun or guava), iluppai and Nuna species have been transplanted. Paneer, eeti, punnai, shenbagam, yetti, venthekku, rudhraksham, sandalwood, red sanders, vedippala, kadukkai, gooseberry, jackfruit, vengu, karungali, sengadambu, ettilingam, poovarasu, perumoongil, magizham and manjakadambu are among the species of trees that will soon flower all over the park.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (research and education) H Basavaraju told TOI that work on creating the park began last year and that seeds had been procured from Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Bengaluru too.

The park, strategically located between the Vandalur reserve forest and the Nedunkundram lake, is expected to become another green lung in a city starved of green spaces. It will have a canal, complete with a U-shaped island, to ensure that the flow of rainwater from the hills is not obstructed. While water from a hillock on the southern side will enter the canal and flow into the Nerkundram lake, which could become an important water source, four check-dams to be constructed along the entire length of the canal will help retain water even during the peak summer days. It will be fully secured with a perimeter wall around it, he said.

The park will benefit researchers looking to study different species, as well as help, create awareness among members of the public. It has two sheds for visitors, an interpretation center for the public and a fountain in the middle. Coming up at an estimated Rs 1.85 crore, the park has been allotted Rs 7.5 lakh per year for maintenance for a two-year period, Basavaraju said.

As the stipulation has become high, cutting down of trees for wood and also for the ground area has also equally increased in the last few years. Deforestation, a concept known by many but only a few knows about the consequences that will be faced by the future generation due to the loss of trees. Deforestation being prevalent among the urban cities as it has the growing demand for housing and other establishments of companies in the respective areas. This initiative has been made to conserve the resources of our land and as well as to maintain a green space which is lacking in all the other states.

Quality, a step by step process!

As the need and want of a common man changes on a continuous basis, his prime focuses on his life, his possessions changes. More than quantity he prefers quality. As it is a lifetime aspect for an enterprise, think about a customer who is buying an asset for his life, a flat or a villa, the look for quality here is unique. Nothing can be achieved without proper flow of process and monitoring. We at Vijay Raja have a clear work flow with quality check at every stage of the construction to give the customer a dream home which will give him a delight. We value the payment made by the customer in a great deal. Thus we ensure the quality of work done at each stage and then we release the payment to the contractors and workers. The protocol will not allow us to proceed without the green signal from the QC team on the execution part. So these will cutoff the wrong execution by the contractor’s side and easily we can find out even if a brick alignment changes. This work flow ensures no delay in planning, execution of the plan and we have special check list to get the desired quality in each stage of the project. The check list will define the materials to be used in each process and the method which we deploy.

Cube Test is the method in which we check the maximum strength of the concrete that we use. We take a sample of the concrete that we use and fill it in a cube and this will go for casting & compaction for 7 – 28 days and the strength of the material is checked in saturated and surface dry condition.

In Slump Cone Test we measure the consistency of fresh concrete before it sets which is carried out using a slump cone. The concrete mix is taken in the slump cone and tapped in the floor. The slumped concrete takes various shapes and according to the profile of slumped concrete, the slump is termed as true slump, shear slump or collapse slump. If a shear or collapse slump is achieved, a fresh sample should be taken and the test is repeated.

To show more importance to every ounce of the house the checklist helps us to achieve great results.
